In 2017 the West Point Mint struck 2,939 uncirculated and 7,377 proof Boys Town five-dollar gold coins, 10,316 in all. The obverse features Father Edward Flanagan, and the reverse displays an open hand holding a young oak growing from an acorn, with THE WORK WILL CONTINUE. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry.
