2015 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

2015 WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The designer's initials JFM and the letters of USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) show extra thickness, with the widest spread in AMERICA. Wexler records two stages. The Stage A obverse has a chip in the V of VDB and a gouge inside the lower part of the 5 in the date; on the Stage B obverse, a small gouge lies left of the upper part of the 5. The Stage A reverse shows a crack on the top of the shield's left side, a pre-die crack depression above the LU of PLURIBUS, and a minute gouge left of the R in AMERICA. On the Stage B reverse, a new chip sits in that crack above the LU, and the gouge left of the R is still visible. Daniel Griffin submitted Stage A and Ed Burrell Stage B.
