Description

The 2015 (P) Burnished Kisatchie National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, belonging to the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts a wild turkey in flight over bluestem grass with longleaf pine trees. Kisatchie is the only national forest in Louisiana, protecting the distinctive longleaf pine ecosystem that once covered vast stretches of the Gulf Coastal Plain. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value is approximately $113. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 155.5 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #542860.
