Description

Part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series, the 2015 (P) Burnished Blue Ridge Pkwy National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter from the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse shows the parkway curving along a mountainside toward a tunnel, with flowering dogwood, North Carolina’s state flower, in the foreground. Inscriptions: BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY, NORTH CAROLINA, 2015 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value is approximately $113. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 155.5 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #545287.
