Description

The 2015 (P) Bombay Hook National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. With a mintage of 45,000, this is a scarce issue — ranked 2nd of 4 mint variants by mintage, with 25% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts a great blue heron with a great egret against the refuge's tidal salt marsh. Bombay Hook protects one of the largest remaining tidal salt marshes in the mid-Atlantic region, providing critical habitat along the Atlantic Flyway. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value is approximately $113. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 155.5 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #545548.
