Description

Second cataloged doubled die reverse for the 2014 Roosevelt Dime, VDDR-002 exhibits medium spread on the upper right central olive leaf within the lower right leaf cluster of the reverse design — a subtle but confirmable doubling visible under moderate magnification. John R. Sinnock's reverse design for the Roosevelt Dime, featuring a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, has been in continuous production since 1946, and the fine botanical details of the leaf clusters are particularly effective at revealing hub doubling. Die stage and marker data remain partially unconfirmed: UVC and DMR codes are listed as pending final assignment. Stage A represents Early Die State (EDS), unconfirmed. Stage B transitions to Mid-Die State (MDS), also unconfirmed. Stage C indicates both the reverse and obverse have reached Late Die State (LDS). The three-stage progression suggests this die served across a meaningful portion of the production run. Cataloged by VarietyVista, this variety belongs to the modern clad Roosevelt Dime production era that began in 1965 when the Coinage Act eliminated silver from circulating dimes. The 2014 Philadelphia Mint dime production contributed to one of the largest annual outputs in series history, with billions of dimes struck across Philadelphia and Denver combined.
