2014 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002 / DDO-001

Description

Listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide as FS-101, DDO-001 on the 2014 Lincoln Shield cent, which Wexler numbers WDDO-002, shows strong extra thickness on the date and LIBERTY and light extra thickness on WE TRUST. Wexler writes the number FS-01-2014-101. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties calls the extra thickness on LIBERTY and the date very strong, with strong notching. On the obverse a die crack climbs NW from the nose's bridge into the forehead; on the reverse the shield's top left edge carries two small die chips and a die crack. Jim Fines submitted the coin, and CONECA lists the die as 1-O-VI. VarietyVista also credits Jim Fines. Under marker codes UVC-3338 and DMR-002, stage A, an early die state, is unconfirmed; stage B, early-middle, shows a light die crack on the forehead and a small die chip on the upper left edge of the shield; stage C, a late die state, is unconfirmed.
