Description
The 2014 (P) Everglades National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 157.6 million examples, making this ranked 10th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with 10% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts an anhinga with outstretched wings and a roseate spoonbill. Everglades National Park protects the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, critical habitat for the Florida panther and American crocodile. Great Smoky Mountains (TN), Shenandoah (VA), Arches (UT), Great Sand Dunes (CO), and Everglades (FL) were honored. Great Smoky Mountains, the most visited national park, drew broad collector interest. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792.
