The reverse depicts the 352-foot Doric column monument on South Bass Island in Lake Erie, commemorating Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's decisive naval victory during the War of 1812. Designed by Don Everhart, the monument's tall, fluted column and surrounding landscape provide vertical and diagonal design elements where hub doubling can produce visible secondary contours.
