Description

The 2012 (S) Denali National Park Quarter was struck at the San Francisco Mint as a quarter in the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The San Francisco Mint struck 1,409,220 uncirculated Denali quarters dated 2012. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts a Dall sheep on a rocky outcrop with Denali in the background. Denali National Park is centered around North America's tallest peak at 20,310 feet and protects six million acres of wild subarctic landscape. El Yunque (PR), Chaco Culture (NM), Acadia (ME), Hawai'i Volcanoes (HI), and Denali (AK) were featured. El Yunque marked the first U.S. territory site in the program. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $10 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #514351.
