2012 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001
Error
Description
Among the strongest modern Presidential Dollar doubled dies, this Class VI variety on the 2012 Benjamin Harrison dollar with Position B edge lettering exhibits pronounced extra thickness across all design elements near the rim, reaching peak intensity along the right side of the obverse. The bust details carry unmistakable thickening that separates this from lesser hub doublings. Diagnostics include a die scratch running southwest from the base of 9 in the date 1893, plus a small die gouge situated below the T in PRESIDENT on the obverse. The reverse offers its own confirming markers: a small die gouge inside the lower portion of N in UNITED, accompanied by a die scratch oriented north-south between F of OF and the first A in AMERICA. Cross-referenced as CONECA 1-O-VI, this variety was documented by the Wexler Team. Position B edge lettering distinguishes this particular listing from the otherwise identical die pair struck with Position A orientation, making edge verification essential for accurate attribution.
