Description

Sharing the same diagnostic area as DDR-005, this 2012-P Denali National Park Quarter DDR-006 also displays a strong spread to the west manifesting as an extra back neck on the Dall sheep ram. While both varieties target the same design element, they originate from different dies, each carrying distinct catalog identifiers. Die markers for DDR-006 are UVC-2102 and DMR-007. The die progression documents Stage A with both reverse and obverse in early die state, Stage B at mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). Unlike DDR-005, which has a confirmed late die state, DDR-006 is confirmed only at Stage A, suggesting the die may have been pulled from service earlier or that later-state examples have yet to surface. The Denali reverse's detailed ram portrait continues to yield doubled die discoveries, with multiple varieties concentrated in the animal's neck and head area where the design relief is highest.
