Description
The 2011 (P) Burnished Chickasaw National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts the Lincoln Bridge spanning Travertine Creek. Chickasaw National Recreation Area protects freshwater and mineral springs that have held cultural significance for centuries, originally established as the Sulphur Springs Reservation in 1902.
