The 2010 (D) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - Abraham Lincoln, Position A is a special strike dollar struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint's figure of 583,897 is quoted for the 2010 (D) Satin Finish Abraham Lincoln dollar as a whole, both edge positions combined; how many carry the Position A edge is not recorded. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The sixteenth President (1861–1865), Abraham Lincoln preserved the Union during the Civil War and issued the Emancipation Proclamation that began the end of slavery in America. Lincoln has appeared on the cent since 1909. Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan, and Lincoln were honored. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #417281.
