Description

The 2010 (D) Presidential Dollar - Abraham Lincoln, Position B represents a Denver Mint issue from the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint's figure of 48.0 million covers every 2010-D Abraham Lincoln dollar, whichever way the edge lettering ran; how many are Position B coins is not recorded. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The sixteenth President (1861–1865), Abraham Lincoln preserved the Union during the Civil War and issued the Emancipation Proclamation that began the end of slavery in America. Lincoln has appeared on the cent since 1909. Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan, and Lincoln were honored. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #417259.
