The 2010 (D) Presidential Dollar - James Buchanan, Position B is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 36.5 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 16 mint variants, representing only 6% of total production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The fifteenth President (1857–1861), James Buchanan remains the only president who never married. Widely regarded as one of the least effective presidents, he failed to prevent the secession crisis that led directly to the Civil War. Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan, and Lincoln were honored. The Lincoln dollar drew strong collector interest due to the president's enduring popularity, but overall circulation demand continued to decline. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $5 depending on grade and condition.
