The 2008 (P) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - James Monroe, Doubled Edge Lettering Overlap is a special strike dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. Total mintage reached 745,464. The obverse features a portrait of James Monroe, 5th President (1817-1825) and author of the Monroe Doctrine, while the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty, inscribed with the dollar sign ($) to represent commerce and the nation's global presence.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #400137. The Presidential Dollar Program (2007-2016, continuing with deceased presidents) issued dollar coins honoring each president in chronological order.
