Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 2008-P $1 JQA WDDR-011, this Presidential Dollar doubled die reverse was struck from the John Quincy Adams issue of the Presidential Dollar series. Doubling appears at the intersection of the second ray clockwise from the head and the right arm of the Statue of Liberty — a precise location within Don Everhart's Statue of Liberty reverse design that served as the common reverse for all Presidential Dollars from 2007 through 2016. The ray-and-arm intersection provides a high-contrast zone where even subtle hub displacement produces noticeable doubled features against the clean field areas surrounding the statue. Obverse die markers include a small die gouge below the O in JOHN and a small die gouge above the dash between the presidential service dates 1825 and 1829 — markers that also confirm the obverse die bears the John Quincy Adams portrait sculpted by the U.S. Mint engraving team. Reverse markers feature a short die scratch running northeast from the top right of the first S in STATES and a small die gouge dot between the lower T and A in STATES.
