Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team, this 2008 Philadelphia John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollar WDDR-008 shows slight doubling on the right arm of the Statue of Liberty just above the sleeve of the robe. Obverse die markers include a small die gouge to the right of the center of the J in JOHN. The reverse carries two markers: a small die gouge on the upper right of the tablet held by Liberty and a die chip on the upper serif of the dollar sign. Cataloged under Wexler Variety ID 2008-D $1 JQA WDDR-008. The tablet and dollar sign markers occupy adjacent areas of the reverse, allowing verification of both in a single magnified view. The Presidential Dollar series, produced from 2007 through 2020, features Don Everhart's common Statue of Liberty reverse, and doubled dies on this shared reverse can appear across any presidential issue. Eight documented DDRs for the John Quincy Adams dollar indicates thorough examination of this early Presidential Dollar release by variety researchers.
