Description

The 2007 (P) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - George Washington, Missing Edge Lettering is a special strike dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The obverse features a portrait of George Washington, 1st President (1789-1797) and commander of the Continental Army, while the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty, inscribed with the dollar sign ($) to represent commerce and the nation's global presence. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error β€” coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST β€” generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Auction record: $53 SP65 07-05-2012 Heritage Auctions. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #396509.
