2007 UFO Variety WUFO-001

Description

The 2007 UFO Variety WUFO-001 is a unidentified fascinating oddity variety of the United States dollar. This variety was discovered on the 2007 (P) Presidential Dollar - George Washington, Position B, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. Cross-referenced as Cherrypickers: FS-C1-2007P-GW-901, CONECA: RDV-001 Comments: It has been suggested that the extra length of the third ray is from a die gouge. Close examination of the elongated third ray does not show any gouging to extend the ray. I would have to strongly disagree with the die gouge theory. Was it a deliberate manipulation of the design? We probably will never know, but it certainly is an interesting variety. The above photo shows the "Elongated Third Ray".
