Description
The 2007 (P) Presidential Dollar - James Madison, Missing Edge Lettering is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $5 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #396507.
