Description

Distinguished by its counterclockwise rotational spread, this 2007 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent DDR-004 from VarietyVista shows a medium rotated CCW displacement creating an extra column at position six with an extra knee between the knees of the Lincoln statue. Cross-referenced as UVC-3255 and DMR-006, the counterclockwise rotation means the hub turned slightly during its secondary impression on the die, producing a curved displacement pattern rather than the linear directional spreads seen in most doubled dies. Stage A is documented at early die state on both obverse and reverse, while Stage B at mid-die state and Stage C at late die state remain unconfirmed. Rotational hub doubling creates a distinctive signature because elements closer to the center of rotation show less displacement than those near the periphery, producing a graduated effect across the design. The 2007 date falls in the penultimate year of Lincoln Memorial Cent production, making it one of the final opportunities for this reverse design to generate new die varieties before the commemorative 2009 reverses and subsequent Shield design replaced it.
