Description

The 2007 (D) Presidential Dollar - John Adams, Position B represents a Denver Mint issue from the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. All 112.1 million 2007-D John Adams dollars are counted together, Position A and Position B alike; the split is not known. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The second President (1797–1801), John Adams was a key architect of American independence who helped draft the Declaration of Independence and served as the nation's first Vice President. He was the first president to live in the White House and the father of sixth president John Quincy Adams. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #150219.
