2005 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-037

Description

Assigned UVC-3188 / DMR-039 by VarietyVista, the 2005 DDR-037 is a Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent exhibiting medium spread to the west as an extra column #7 from the face to the knee. This upper-range doubling captures the portion of column #7 that frames Lincoln's profile and upper body, fading out at knee level. Westward column #7 doubling in the face-to-knee range places DDR-037 in the same class as the 2004 DDR-026, though each belongs to a separate production year and originates from a different working die. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the die was documented before service wear could obscure the diagnostic ghost column. The face-to-knee span offers collectors a visually appealing doubling target because the upper column area sits beside the most detailed portion of the statue, where Lincoln's facial features and seated posture provide strong contrast for identifying the secondary image. With billions of cents struck at Philadelphia in 2005, the statistical likelihood of multiple DDRs entering circulation unnoticed remains high.
