The U.S. Mint produced 1.2 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 33 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The reverse features two fishermen in a canoe on a tree-lined lake with a common loon on the water and the inscription "Land of 10,000 Lakes." The state actually contains more than 11,000 lakes. California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, and West Virginia. Satin finish specimens from mint sets were produced. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $98 SP68 09-06-2005 Heritage Auctions. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #914037.
