2004 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-025

Description

While most Memorial cent DDRs feature westward spread targeting column #7, the 2004 DDR-025 Philadelphia cent reverses course with medium eastward spread producing an extra column #6 — the first column to Lincoln's left. Column #6 becomes the target when the hub shifts eastward (rightward on the die), placing the secondary image to the left of center. The elbow-to-foot extent is notably extensive, spanning from the mid-arm area down through the entire lower body of the column to its base, making this one of the more comprehensive east-spread column varieties for the date. Cataloged under UVC-2897 / DMR-028 by VarietyVista, die stages begin at Early-to-Mid Die State (EMDS) for both reverse and obverse at Stage A, progressing to Mid Die State (Stage B, unconfirmed) and Late Die State (Stage C, unconfirmed). Eastward column #6 varieties are less common in the Memorial cent series than their westward column #7 counterparts, and the extensive elbow-to-foot range provides ample diagnostic area for confirming the secondary image under magnification.
