2001 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-034

Description

Bearing UVC-3279 / DMR-036 designations from VarietyVista, the 2001 DDR-034 is a Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent with medium westward spread producing an extra column #7 from the elbow to the ankle. While this variety shares its directional spread, target column, and body extent with the contemporaneous DDR-032 (UVC-3277 / DMR-034), the two originate from entirely different working dies — each receiving its own misaligned hub impression during die production. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A) for both reverse and obverse, DDR-034's secondary column image should appear sharply defined. Differentiating DDR-034 from DDR-032 requires examining the die-specific markers each working die acquires during its manufacturing and service life, such as gouges, scratches, or polish lines unique to one die but absent from the other. The duplication of nearly identical doubling across separate dies reflects the mechanical consistency of the hubbing process: when two dies receive similar misalignments, they produce visually comparable but technically distinct varieties.
