Description

Numbered thirtieth in the extensive DDR catalog for 2001 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial Cents, DDR-030 exhibits medium spread in the West direction as an extra column #7 extending from elbow level down to shin level. This elbow-to-shin extent covers the middle-to-lower portion of the westernmost Memorial column, producing a ghost column that begins partway down the shaft and fades before reaching the pedestal base. West-direction spread pushes the secondary column to the left of the primary, and medium classification means the separation is visible under standard magnification without requiring extreme enlargement. Die stage records show an interesting split: Stage A documents the reverse in Early Die State while the obverse sits at Early-to-Mid Die State, indicating the two dies in this die marriage were at slightly different points in their wear progression when the earliest examined specimens were struck. Stage B and Stage C at Mid and Late Die State respectively remain unconfirmed. The high DDR number reflects the remarkable volume of column varieties cataloged for 2001 Philadelphia cents, a date that yielded one of the largest variety clusters in the Memorial cent series.
