Description
2000 WDDR-013 is a doubled die reverse on the 2000 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling appears along the lower left edge of the seventh Memorial column, right of the statue's legs. Obverse markers in the date: a SW/NE crack passes through the first zero's lower right, turns east to the second zero, then continues NE through that zero into the field; a small chip sits on the top right of the 2. On the portrait: several gouges right of the upper ear; overpolishing within and under the ear, plus on the jacket to the left of the upper lapel; a gouge on the underside of the eyebrow, NE of the eye; and a gouge right of the nose. Around the legends: a gouge just under the N of IN toward its right; a gouge below and between the N of IN and the G of GOD; a gouge just inside the hair, beneath the G of GOD on its right side; a gouge at the top edge of the hair, below and slightly right of the D in GOD; a gouge just right of the upper upright of the L in LIBERTY; a gouge above and between the I and B of LIBERTY; and a gouge under that B. Reverse markers: a gouge right of the I in UNITED at mid-height; a small gouge between the lower C and A of AMERICA; chips along the left sides of the first and second columns near their tops, with a large chip along the third column's left side near its bottom; a crack running NE from the third column onto the cornice, then turning ENE along the upper cornice; an ENE crack from the fifth column's top right reaching onto the lower cornice; two small gouges right of the lower last column; a gouge within the O of ONE on its right side; a small gouge between the tops of the C and E of CENT; and three small gouges right of the upper T in CENT. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes that this is a replacement listing: the original entry under this number was a "wavy steps" variety, and such pieces are no longer considered doubled dies.
