2000 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-008

Description

2000 WDDR-008 is a doubled die reverse on the 2000 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling appears along the lower left edge of the seventh Memorial column, right of the statue's legs, and also left of the center of each leg. Obverse Stage A has a minute gouge left of the lower part of the B in LIBERTY and a gouge on the lower vest, well under the date. Stage B keeps those markers and adds a gouge under the E of LIBERTY, toward its right. Reverse Stage A has a minute gouge touching the top left of the second A in AMERICA; a small gouge against the upper right of the T's upright in UNITED; and a small gouge touching the first column's left side at mid-height, level with the U of UNITED. Stage B keeps those markers and adds a small gouge left of the top of the O in ONE and another inside the O's right side. John A. Wexler submitted Stage A and Daniel Griffin submitted Stage B. CONECA lists the variety as 3-R-VIII.
