2000 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

2000 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 2000 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the left side of the seventh column, right of the statue. For obverse Stage A, Wexler notes no markers. Stage B shows two gouges in front of the lower lip and upper chin; a gouge on the vest under the left side of the 2 in the date; a large gouge under the 2's right side, level with the top of the vest gouge; a gouge in the lower right of the final 0; a gouge above and between the D and B of VDB; a gouge against the right leg of the R in LIBERTY, on that leg's left side; and a gouge against the left side of the T's upright in LIBERTY. Reverse Stage A has two gouges left of the T in CENT. In Stage B those gouges remain, though weaker, joined by a gouge between the lower N and I of UNITED, a gouge touching the top of the middle bar of the E in ONE, and a gouge touching the lower right tip of the N's left upright in CENT. Jim Hair submitted Stage A and Daniel Griffin submitted Stage B. CONECA lists the variety as 5-R-VIII, and its Coppercoins number is 2000P-1DR-003.
