2000 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-013

Description

Thirteenth in the reverse doubled die census for the 2000 Lincoln Memorial cent, DDR-013 shows light northward spread creating an extra set of knees above the normal knees of the seated Lincoln figure within Frank Gasparro's memorial interior. VarietyVista assigned identifiers UVC-3108 and DMR-015, documenting three die stages: Stage A where both reverse and obverse surfaces are at early die state, Stage B at mid die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). The EDS confirmation for Stage A ensures specimens exist preserving the variety at maximum die sharpness. Unlike the numerous westward-spread extra column varieties that dominate the 1999-2000 Lincoln Memorial DDR census, DDR-013 exhibits a northward spread direction that produces a vertically displaced secondary image rather than a horizontally shifted phantom column. An extra set of knees above the normal knees represents a directly observable anatomical doubling — the secondary hub impression placed the knee-area detail higher on the die than the primary impression, creating a stacked pair of knee forms that is visually intuitive once identified. The RDV-007 reverse design variant connects this die to the same hub family, but the northward displacement direction distinguishes its doubling mechanism from the predominantly westward shifts seen on the extra column DDRs. Philadelphia's production of approximately 5.50 billion cents in 2000 continued the massive output that generated extensive DDR documentation across both the 1999 and 2000 dates.
