2000 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-009

Description

A companion piece to the 2000 DDR-007, this VarietyVista-cataloged 2000 Lincoln Memorial Cent DDR-009 presents the mirror-image displacement: a light spread to the west creating an extra column at position number 7 in the shin-to-foot area of the seated Lincoln statue. Where DDR-007 spreads eastward at column 6 (knee to shin), DDR-009 spreads westward at the adjacent column 7 (shin to foot) — opposite directions at neighboring columns, both sharing the same RDV-007 reverse die variety designation but originating from different working dies with distinct die marker codes. Die markers UVC-2978 and DMR-011 identify this specific working die across three documented stages: Stage A with reverse and obverse in early die state, Stage B tentatively in mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C tentatively in late die state (unconfirmed). Frank Gasparro's Lincoln Memorial reverse, with its detailed columnar architecture, provides an ideal canvas for column-based doubling diagnostics. This Philadelphia Mint regular strike was produced in copper-plated zinc.
