Three obverse die markers aid identification: a die chip touching the upper left side of the S in TRUST, a die chip below the I in IN, and a die chip above the E in LIBERTY. No significant reverse die markers beyond the doubling itself were noted. The doubling visible as a connecting bar between the hand and leg of the Lincoln statue within the Memorial columns represents a distinctive manifestation where hub misalignment created extra metal in the narrow gap between adjacent design elements, effectively filling space that should be recessed. The three obverse die chips clustered around IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY suggest the obverse die was experiencing general deterioration consistent with extended use, and these markers function as fingerprints for confirming the specific die pair.
