1999-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-005

Description

Displaying a medium spread with slight clockwise rotation, this 1999-D Lincoln Memorial Cent DDR-005 creates what variety collectors call an extra column number seven on the Memorial reverse. The Lincoln Memorial building as depicted on the cent features a colonnade, and when hub doubling displaces one column's image laterally, it produces the appearance of an additional column that does not exist on a normal coin. On this variety, the extra column spans from knee height to pedestal level, defining the vertical range of the visible doubling on the building's facade. The clockwise rotational component adds a slight angular displacement to the spread, meaning the doubling direction shifts subtly across the affected area. Die markers include UVC-3008 and DMR-006. Three die stages are documented: Stage A with the reverse in Early Die State and obverse in Mid-Die State, Stage B in Mid-Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C in Late Die State (unconfirmed).
