1998 (P) Lincoln Cent - Wide AM - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-027

Description

1998 WDDR-027 is a doubled die reverse on the 1998 Wide AM Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the lower right of the 6th column, left of the statue's legs. Obverse Stage A shows a strong gouge well north of the date's 8, and Obverse Stage B is the same as Stage A. On Reverse Stage A, the reverse carries the Wide AM design that was meant for proof dies of this date. A short gouge lies right of the top of the A in STATES, and a small gouge is left of the 4th Memorial column, nearly halfway up from its base. Reverse Stage B shows two small gouges, arranged like a semicolon, just left of the initial E of E PLURIBUS UNUM, and a die chip on the lower left of the left Memorial base. Charles D. Hudson submitted Stage A and Joseph Koelling Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments note that the hub markers won't show because the Wide AM reverse was used, and that the Wide AM variety appears in the Wexler Wrong Reverse Files as 1998 WWAM-026.
