1998 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1998 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1998 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The spread is close and toward the center. It appears on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE CENT, the designer's initials, the Memorial's left base and the first four columns. On the obverse, three die gouges (dots) form a triangle beneath the 19 of the date. On the reverse, a gouge (dot) lies between the O and N of ONE, and a cluster of small gouges sits inside that O. Billy G. Crawford submitted the variety. Crawford lists it as CDDR-001, and its Coppercoins number is 1998P-1DR-001. Wexler's comments add that the hub marker above the N in UNUM can be seen, as can those at the tops of Memorial bays 7 and 8 and those on the roof.
