1998 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-010
Error
Description
Among the most architecturally precise doubled die diagnostics in the Lincoln Memorial Cent series, the 1998 DDR-010 exhibits a medium westward spread that creates a ghost column at position number 7, visible in the zone between the seated Lincoln statue's shin and the column pedestal. This column #7 spread is a hallmark of the RDV-007 reverse die variety, which produced multiple DDR listings across the late 1990s and 2000 — each distinguished by the vertical zone where the extra column is most apparent. On DDR-010, the shin-to-pedestal area places the strongest doubling in the lower third of the column, where the secondary hub impression shifted west and deposited a faint architectural echo alongside the primary column. Die markers UVC-3430 and DMR-012 identify this specific working die. Three die stages have been documented: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in early die state, Stage B tentatively in mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C tentatively in late die state (unconfirmed). Cataloged by VarietyVista, this Philadelphia Mint regular strike was produced in copper-plated zinc. Examine the column 7 area from the statue's shin down to the pedestal for the medium-intensity westward ghost column that distinguishes DDR-010 from its companion RDV-007 varieties on adjacent years.
