1996 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-006

Description

1996 WDDR-006 is a doubled die reverse on the 1996 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. On the seventh column, right of the statue, a bar reaches from the shoulder's top to the upper leg. On the obverse, crisscrossing scratches lie before Lincoln's face and neck, and also behind his neck. On the reverse, crisscrossing scratches running in many directions fill the Memorial bays. A heavy gouge sits right of the lower N in ONE, a gouge is under the left side of the C in CENT, and small gouges lie right of the N in CENT. Heavy NE/SW scratches cross the right Memorial base and FG, and SE of the second dot over the roof of the Memorial there is a gouge. Tanner Scott submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments explain that it replaces the first 1996 WDDR-006 listing, a "wavy steps" variety, and add that wavy steps pieces are no longer thought to be doubled dies.
