CU-10c-1995P-02R Cud

Description

Joining the first reverse cud documented for 1995-P, this second cataloged reverse cud for the 1995 Philadelphia Mint Roosevelt Dime records an independent die rim failure from a different reverse die. Each cud results from a unique fracture event, and the location and extent of the raised featureless area on the coin varies according to where along the rim the die fragment broke away and how large the separated piece was. Two reverse cuds from the same date indicate that multiple reverse dies sustained rim failures during the 1995-P production run, consistent with the high die consumption rates typical of Philadelphia's dime production. Cataloged by Cuds on Coins under CU-10c-1995P-02R, this variety complements the -01R entry and together they document at least two separate die failures for the date. The Roosevelt Dime has been struck continuously since 1946, and the accumulated cud catalog spanning nearly eight decades offers one of the most complete records of die rim failure patterns available for any U.S. coin denomination.
