Description

Tilted doubling shows in lower memorial bay 7. Die Markers: Obverse: Stage A (First Obverse): A small die gouge shows to the right of the upper N in IN. A die gouge shows along the outer right edge of the O in GOD. A small die gouge (dot) shows in the field right of Lincoln’s hair curl. Stage B (Second Obverse): Obverse die changed. No previous die stage markers present. Very light, E-W oriented die scratches run between the W and E in WE. A die gouge shows at the rim above the second T in TRUST. A die gouge (dot) shows near the rim at 3:00. A die gouge shows behind the truncation of Lincoln’s bust. Reverse: Stage A: A series of die gouges show inside the U in UNITED. A die gouge shows at the rim above the right edge of the R in AMERICA. Stage B: The die gouges inside the U in UNITED and the die gouge above the R in AMERICA are still visible from Stage A. A die gouge shows between the lower N and I in UNITED. A die gouge shows to the right of the F in OF.
