1991 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1991-01

Description

ADC-1c-1991-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1991-P Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is very strong, and MDC's overlays show the dies shifted in position between two clashes. Parts of letters show in the field above Lincoln's head, the bays left several sets of marks, and the roof line crosses the date more than once, offset each time. On the reverse, parts of the date's digits show above the right side of the Memorial roof, and RTY clashed into the die. MDC suggests a slightly tilted hammer die may explain why the marks are strongest at the reverse's bottom, which is the obverse's top. The coin is in Joe Koelling's collection.
