1990 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-008

Description

1990 WDDR-008 is a doubled die reverse on the 1990 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. In bays 9 and 10, a strong SW spread produces extra columns and extra images of the Memorial floor. On the obverse, a small gouge lies SE of the N in IN, and a short horizontal scratch sits between the bottoms of the O and D in GOD. At the rim left of the first T in TRUST there is a gouge, and a short gouge sticks out from the upper right of the second T. In the date, one gouge lies between the 9 and 0 and another below the second 9. On the reverse, a small gouge sits inside the U of UNITED, and a SW-to-NE scratch crosses the upper part of the third bay. Remnants of an abraded die clash appear at the bottom of the fourth bay, and a scratch runs SSW to NNE in the ninth bay. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
