1989 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-008

Description

1989 WDDR-008 is a doubled die reverse on the 1989 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close spread toward the rim shows on STATES OF AMERICA, most clearly as notches on the lower parts of the A's. Some lower letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM and the designer's initials also show doubling, and the upper letters of ONE CENT carry notches. On the obverse, a scratch crosses the TRU of TRUST. On the reverse, two strong scratches head NE off the E in ONE at its lower right, and a scratch heads east off the S in PLURIBUS, also at its lower right. Two scratches cross the upper ATE of STATES. Under the left pillar, a die clash runs SSE from the base of the Memorial. Larry Patterson submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
