1988 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1988 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1988 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The lower letters of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA show a spread toward the rim, and there is extra thickness on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the dots. On UNITED STATES OF AMERICA the lower serifs are notched; on E PLURIBUS UNUM the thickness falls mostly on the letters and dots at the left. On the obverse, a small gouge sits inside the upper loop of the 9, and two weak scratches run south beneath the 1 of the date. On the reverse, short gouges stick out from the center left and the upper left of the A in STATES. Jennifer Casazza submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
