1988 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1988 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1988 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The lower letters of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA show a spread toward the rim, while E PLURIBUS UNUM and the dots show extra thickness. On the obverse, a very strong scratch runs NE from the rim left of the L in LIBERTY, and a strong scratch heads SW from the base of the second 8 of the date. Many other scratches, most running SW/NE, are spread across the obverse. On the reverse, from the N in UNITED, three parallel scratches head SW, and below the Lincoln statue a strong scratch runs WNW/ESE. Peter Beane and Jennifer Casazza submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
