1988 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1988-01
Error
Description
ADC-1c-1988-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1988-P Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. It is a strong, unabraded double clash on both dies, with the 5° tilt between the dies that MDC often sees; two overlays show the die positions. On the obverse, two horizontal lines run from the back of Lincoln's head, the lower one made by the Memorial's right-hand cornice. The cornice shows again above 98 in the date, and the roof line cuts through the 1. The reverse shows the doubling more clearly: two sets of marks from the top of Lincoln's head and its back, a cleaner separation in the marks from his shoulder, a slight mark from the 1 of the date beside a diagonal mark, and marks from his vest and face.
