1985 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1985 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1985 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center shows on ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the designer's initials. On the obverse, two parallel scratches cross the upper 9 from NW to SE, and a nearly horizontal scratch passes through the middle of the TY in LIBERTY. Two parallel scratches run NE off the right side of GOD's G, and Wexler notes many other scratches across the obverse, more than he lists. On the reverse, a small gouge sticks out from the lower left of CENT's C, and a short horizontal gouge sits beside the top of the first column, on its left. William Slaughter submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
