1985 Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1985-02
Error
Description
ADC-1C-1985-02 This is a strong triple clash event with nice separation found on a 1985 Lincoln cent. The obverse of this cent has been replaced with a new die and reveals no evidence of a clash or abrasion. The area within the memorial on the reverse reveals three separate clash events while the area outside the memorial has been heavily abraded and evidence of the clashes has been obliterated. Die markers for this die clash can be found as two parallel die scratches extending from the bottom of the first T of STATES to the top of the P of PLURIBUS and as a die chip found to the right of the lower last memorial column. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin have major plating issues with split plating and linear bubbles. The plating issues should not be used as die markers to match to this die clash. This coin was submitted by Joey Cathey.
