1985 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1985-02

Description

ADC-1c-1985-02 is an atypical die clash on a 1985 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. It records three strong, well-separated clash events. The obverse die had been replaced and shows no clash or abrasion. Inside the Memorial on the reverse, the three events can be seen; outside it, heavy abrasion has wiped out the clash marks. Die markers: two parallel scratches from the foot of the first T in STATES to the top of the P in PLURIBUS, and a die chip right of the lower part of the last Memorial column. Both sides have serious plating problems, split plating and linear bubbles, which MDC says should not be used as die markers. Joey Cathey submitted the coin.
